Job Functions:
Ensure the Water Treatment Plant operates within EPA and regulatory guidelines. Ensure the Waste Water Treatment Plant operates within EPA and regulatory guidelines. Perform routine laboratory testing and analysis. Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting. Maintain equipment in proper operating condition by performing simple preventive maintenance tasks. Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service. Perform services on the collection side such as meter reading, maintenance, and repairing water leaks. Job Requirements: At least 18 years of age or older. High school graduate. Possess a valid Ohio driver's license. CDL is preferred but not required. Ohio EPA Class I Water Distribution Certificate and an Ohio EPA Level 2 Waste Water Treatment Certificate, or willing to obtain these within two (2) years of hire. The City of Urbana, Ohio is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Facilities Technician with the annual range from $37,752 to $49,078 commensurate with experience. The Facilities Technician will work under the direction of the Public Works Superintendent and/or Sewer Maintenance & facilities Supervisor.
They are also responsible for facilitating developed Scopes of Work required to maintain city-owned buildings and facilities in collaboration with Facilities Planner. Assists in planning, directing, coordinating & budgeting interior/exterior building maintenance for multiple city owned facilities – such as, janitorial/custodial services, painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, security, and other skilled and semi-skilled trades of work; provides information necessary to update facility management reporting system, assists in ensuring facilities meet the needs of various departments by helping with the procurement, maintenance and upgrades of furniture, utilities, security systems and signage. Identifies and maintain accurate facility asset records; performs preventive and routine maintenance activities; facilitates effective work programs and pursues opportunities to optimize effectiveness; manages equipment maintenance requests; performs other duties as needed. The qualifications for this position include the following:
♦ HS or GED certificate plus five (5) years facilities (working) experience ♦ Must have a valid state of Ohio Driver’s License without record of suspension or revocation in any state ♦ Advanced knowledge of building operations and support ♦ Ability to establish & maintain effective working relationships ♦ Ability to coordinate activities at multiple facilities ♦ Extensive knowledge of electrical power distribution systems ♦ Working knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in building and grounds maintenance, including roofing systems, pest control, HVAC, skilled trades, & security systems ♦ Working knowledge of safe work methods ♦ Skill in operation of current testing methods, tools and equipment ♦ Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule ♦ Ability to communicate orally and in writing ♦ Proficient in use of computer technology, including, but not limited to MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and web based reporting ♦ Skilled in the use of general office equipment ♦ Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely ♦ Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions The selected candidate must successfully complete the following: ♦ Background Investigation. ♦ Pre-employment Drug Screen.
