Lead Campus Security Officer

Urbana University, a branch campus of Franklin University, has a full-time opening for a Lead Campus Security Officer who assists in overseeing, instructing and coordinating the activities of all Campus Security Officers. In the absence of the Security Manager, has full responsibility for overseeing activities of the Security Office. Monitors and arranges shift activities according to schedule requirements and staff availability. Provides relief for security officers and manager, when needed, changing his/her shift to do so. Conducts inspections of various security posts to ensure on-duty Campus Security Officers are properly performing their assigned tasks, and all areas of the campus are being properly patrolled and checked.

Assists in the recommendation, development and implementation of improvements to systems and procedures. Acts as a liaison with Urbana Police, as well as Champaign County Sheriff’s Deputies, to ensure on-going incidents receive a proper and coordinated response. Attends on and off campus meetings when the Security Manager is not available and periodically attends monthly meetings at Franklin University.

Serves as a principal source of information on rules and procedures governing Safety and Security operations, as well as the primary point of contact for printing and issuing parking permits and student, faculty, and staff identification cards. Frequently checks fire and security system for proper operation. Troubleshoots security systems and monitors control panels, alarms, CCTV, Electronic Card Access Systems, and related security equipment. Provides leadership in the event of an emergency and assists the Security Manager with all aspects of running the Urbana Campus Safety and Security Department. Works special events, including sporting events and graduations. Assists with training security officers. Campus Safety and Security Services is a 24/7 department and overtime hours are expected. Primary work hours for this position are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Five plus years of related work experience including prior law enforcement/security experience or training
  • High school education
  • Ability to maintain the authorization to carry a firearm while on duty
  • Able to work weekends and nights to include overnight and holidays
  • Ability to stay calm in stressful or emergency situations
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Physically able to walk university grounds and stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to work with others in a team atmosphere
  • Ability to read and understand University rules, regulations and specific general orders applying to Campus safety
  • Unquestionable honesty and integrity
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and problem-solving skills
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License
Preferred Skills and Characteristics:
  • An Associate or Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of experience and education
  • CPR, First-Aid, AED Training/Certification
  • Firearms certification and/or training
  • IPMBA certification

Material Handler - 3rd Shift

Job Definition: Review and verify inbound goods and raw
materials to ensure order accuracy in SAP and delivering raw materials and inbound goods to paper machine and/or proper locations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Verify and move material into SAP
  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures jobs to verify
  • Deliver raw material and finished product to converting department and move material from paper machine as deemed necessary.
  • Record data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting and recordkeeping purposes.
  • Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages and nonconformace to specifications.
  • Monitor and maintains inventory of materials and supplies through Kanban system
  • Cut cores and manage inventory level(s)
  • Scan and/or enter data into SAP to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist other departments as needed
  • Adhere to company safety regulations
  • Communicate with other departments to retrieve raw material and supplies to eliminate need for downtime
  • Maintain clean work environment and document housekeeping and 5S compliance
  • Recycle and monitor paper waste
  • Operate the paper compactor and remove excess waste from work cells
Note: Other duties may be required

JOB SUMMARY: As a member of the Urbana team you will be relied upon to achieve optimum productivity while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and efficiency. Responsibilities include the ability to work safety including but not limited to following company policies and procedures, adhering to machine specific and personal safety and environmental regulations. Retrieve order specs, documentation and data from SAP; conduct order changes and set-ups, operate/maintain to assigned productivity standards; control and operate QCS/DCS system; follow job specific procedures during pape machine shut down; cut and/or set cores; assist with paper machine operations and stock prep area; assist Flex Operator when required; process rolls to customer specifications; move material to and around paper mill and stock prep area. Assist in machine maintenance and perform periodic maintenance to machine. Have the ability to qualify and fill-in for Flex Operator.

QUALIFICATIONS: Manufacturing experience required (paper experience preferred). Ability to work swing shift and be trained on multiple positions. Effectively utilize SAP. Demonstrated ability to lead and participate in team based activities. Comprehend and apply basic reading, arithmetic and geometry (testing required). Possess WEIDMANN Forklift Permit and Crane Operating Permit. Ability to use a tape measure and precision measuring equipment. Ability to read diagrams, work instructions and apply them to job. Must be able to multi-task and work with little supervision in a team environment. Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges. Physical requirements – lift and manipulate unwieldy parts weighing approximately 75 pound range up to 100 lbs. with help. Ability to push/pull 60 pounds on own. Physical requirement to work in a un-climate controlled environment. Basic keyboarding skills and basic knowledge of computer operations. Ability to work up to a maximum of 16 hours in a day. Required to train on multiple jobs.
