Ministry Opportunity: Youth Group Director for the First Baptist Church of Urbana, Ohio
 
Qualifications:

1. A born again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.
2. Well-grounded in the faith and the beliefs held by the church.
3. Evidence of continuing to grow in his/her spirituality.
4. Possess good communication skills.
5. Able to relate well with children in grades 7-12 while maintaining the leader roles of respect, discipline, and authority.
6. Maintains a God-centered life that provides an appropriate example.
7. Cooperate well with leadership in the church and follow through on understandings and agreements reached.
8. Possess good organizational and administrative skills.
9. Willingness to pursue continuing education/equipping related to position.
10. A satisfactory background check and screening application in accordance with First Baptist Church of Urbana’s Safeguarding Children and Youth Policy.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead a weekly youth meeting that would include time for Bible study.
2. Plan, coordinate, and lead special events and activities designed to help the youth fulfill their worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, and evangelism purposes.
3. Provide leadership for planning and coordinating youth events both within the church and other locations when feasible.
4. Set up and oversee a discipleship plan for the youth.
5. Maintain good communication with the parents and the congregation.
6. Recruit volunteers who work with youth in all aspects of youth ministry and ensure adequate volunteer support/adult to youth ratios.
7. Attend church meetings (annual meeting, budget meeting, etc.) when requested.
8. Submit written information for the monthly newsletter, semi-annual report, and annual report.
9. Adhere to the policies of the church.
10. Other duties as communicated.

 
Normal Expected Time Committed:
This is a part-time position requiring about 10-hours per week.  The primary time commitment will be to develop and execute a weekly, 90-minute Youth Group meeting.  Other commitments include periodical youth outings during the school year and coordinating bi-weekly summer youth outings when school is not in session.  It is expected that the Youth Group Leader will be granted flexibility in establishing his/her schedule, however, the schedule should be agreed upon by the pastor.
 
Supervision, Accountability, and Support:
This position will be supervised by the pastor.  The Personnel Committee in conjunction will provide additional oversight, planning, and support.  The Personal Committee will meet with the Youth Group Director at least semi-annually to review work, address concerns, and maintain good communication and relations between the staff and congregation.
