Mechanicsburg Police Department POLICE PATROL OFFICER

​The Village of Mechanicsburg is seeking applicants for the position of (1) Full-Time POLICE PATROL OFFICER. The major duties of a Mechanicsburg Patrol Officer include Responding to calls for service, patrolling to deter and detect crime, investigating complaints, citing and/or arresting law violators, following up on pending reports and cases, problem solving, protecting persons and property, and securing prisoners. When not responding to calls for service, the Officer is expected to use self-directed work time in an efficient manner by self-initiating work on those tasks identified by supervisory personnel. To be eligible for the employment, an applicant must meet the following minimum requirements and qualifications:

1. U.S. Citizen
2. High school graduate or GED.
3. OPOTA Certification
4. Valid driver’s license.

To be considered for employment, the applicant must meet the above minimum requirements and qualifications, and must successfully complete all of the following:

• Written Test
• Physical Fitness Test – Pass/Fail.
• Background Investigation (that may include criminal history, driving record, education, prior employment, credit report, etc.).

Starting Pay:
Year 1 - $18.00 per hour
Year 2 - $19.00 per hour
Year 3 - $20.00 per hour
Year 4+ – Percentage annual raises

Schedule: This position will work is a rotating 12-hour shift from 7pm-7am with every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off with 4 hours of Overtime each pay period.
