The Bailey House, home to the West Liberty Historical Society, is a cornerstone of our community’s story. The Society is actively renovating this space to share the rich history of West Liberty as a local history museum. Be sure to stop in, enjoy the gardens, and learn more about the efforts to preserve and showcase our heritage. The Yoders – 462 East State Route 245, West Liberty The Yoder grounds feature some adorable gardens along the banks of the river across from West Liberty Lion's Park. The Yoder property combines welcoming landscaping and beautiful views of the valley. The Kellers – 127 TR 175 (Ricketts Road), West Liberty Nicole Keller’s garden blooms with perennials and personal stories. Taught by her mother, Annette, she celebrates the colors of lilies (inspired by her daughter Lilly) and enjoys peaceful moments by her koi pond. Her garden is a reflection of years of passion and learning, with vibrant poppies and thoughtful plantings that delight visitors. The Detwilers – 394 State Route 507, West Liberty Karrie Detwiler’s passion for gardening began in her 20s with help from her grandmothers, who inspired her love for both vegetables and flowers. Her happiest moments are spent wandering her gardens, pulling weeds, and tending to treasured plants like her grandmothers’ hydrangeas, old varieties of columbine, and clematis. Karrie shares her favorite gardening wisdom: “See a weed, pull a weed. Leave a weed, pull three.” Her gardens are living family heirlooms, filled with starts she’s carried from home to home—including mums that root and thrive from simple cuttings. The Caves – 2407 East State Route 245, Cable Beautiful gardens surround this home showcasing natural elements and curated plantings to explore. This property features the rolling landscape only offered near The Ohio Caverns and Mt. Tabor Church. See the properties beautifully landscaped grounds while admiring the best views that Champaign County has to offer. Mt. Tabor Church – 2427 East State Route 245, Cable Perched on a hill surrounded by an active cemetery, this 1881 church is a historic treasure. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it is in the midst of a restoration to preserve its stunning stained-glass windows and original interior. The Salem Township Trustees continue to care for this landmark with a vision of welcoming future weddings, services, and community gatherings. Ohio Caverns Natural Wonders Entrance – 2210 East State Route 245, West Liberty The Ohio Caverns Natural Wonders Entrance is framed by beautifully landscaped gardens and grounds, creating a perfect blend of nature and history that visitors will love. Dragonfly Vineyard & Wine Cellar – 710 West Herr Road, Urbana End your day with a relaxing visit to Dragonfly Vineyard and Winery, where you can enjoy wine, food, and refreshments while reflecting on the beauty of the gardens you’ve explored.
