School Activities and Awards
Throughout high school, I have been involved in multiple clubs and organizations, such as soccer, basketball, track, musical, NHS, DECA, Climber Singers, and French Club. I have volunteered as a youth soccer coach since my freshman year, and I enjoy participating in other community service activities, such as hosting the annual Powderpuff game at our school as a fundraiser for local scholarships and organizations. While in school, I have earned awards like Scholar Athlete: Highest GPA on the Team during basketball, CBC Sportsmanship Award for soccer, Most Improved for track, Student of the Year in math, Spanish, French, and Social Studies, making the Dean's List at Clark State since freshman year, making it to ICDC in DECA after earning 2nd in the state as well as earning the position of VP of Marketing Communications, and finally, being selected as my school's delegate to attend Buckeye Girls State. People who have been an inspiration to me & why... I have been greatly inspired by my parents and coaches throughout high school. My parents never cease to provide for me and always support me in every way they can. I am in awe of how much they do, whether it be making dinner, working hard every day, or attending as many of my sports or other competitions as possible. Some of my coaches have been a big inspiration for me, as well, since they always find ways to lift the team and push us to be better, both as players and people. Lately I have been reading... I have been reading a wide variety of books in the past few years, but right now I am reading Thieves' Gambit by Kayvion Lewis, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, and Better Than the Movies by Lynn Painter. I enjoy mystery, science fiction, philosophy, and romance books. My advice to parents... My advice to parents would be to always support your kids however you can, and make it a point to learn how to listen without lecturing or giving advice. Having parents like mine who always cheer me on has been a huge support system for me throughout my life, and I always appreciate it when I feel like I can tell my parents anything without them trying to fix the problem (unless I want help, of course). Just be there for your kids; it is something for which they will be grateful, even if they don't seem to be right now. My biggest regret... I wish that I would have gotten involved in DECA and community service sooner. While the DECA program is only conditionally open to sophomores, I wish that I had at least learned more about the chapter and gotten involved as much as I could have. My partner and I did really well at the state competition last year, but I feel that we not only could have done better but that I would be a better leader this year if I had started earlier. Also, I have been coaching youth soccer since my freshman year where I helped my sister, but I wish I had helped out before then. I love working with kids, and helping to share my knowledge and love for the sport is something I aspire to do. Next year I will be... I plan to attend a four-year university to major in both Marketing and Hospitality Management with hopes of working in event planning and management. |
