New Green Space Enhances Legacy Park in Downtown Urbana

​Monument Square District (MSD) is bringing new life to Legacy Park in downtown Urbana with the addition of a fresh green space. Replacing the previously plain gravel area, the improvement is designed to enhance the park’s charm and provide a more inviting experience for visitors.

​The transformation is currently underway, thanks to the efforts of Garden of Eden

Landscaping and Phil Wolford’s dedicated crew, who have been working through summer heat to bring the vision to life. A decorative fence is also planned for installation within the next month, adding character and definition to the space.

As part of the update, electricity has been added to the site—creating opportunities for future programming and events. The space will also allow for seasonal flower plantings to bring added color and vibrancy to the heart of downtown.

Monument Square District hopes the new addition will further enrich the peaceful atmosphere of Legacy Park and continue to make downtown Urbana a welcoming destination for residents and visitors alike.
