Volunteer Banquet, where the organization recognized Volunteers of the Year --- Edward (Ed) and Karen Klink. The husband-and-wife duo were selected by hospital staff for their willingness to help out wherever needed, leading with a smile, and upholding Memorial’s values, mission, and vision.
Together, they have over 3,000 hours of volunteer service. Karen helps in the two on-campus Memorial Gift Shops, Ed assists the Materials team, and they both deliver Memorial Mobile Meals. Whether serving side-by-side or covering different roles on the same day, Karen and Ed’s shared commitment and support for each other – and Memorial’s mission – is evident. When they first started volunteering at Memorial, they were new to the area and looking to build connections and friendships after retiring. Reflecting on their time in the volunteer program, Karen shares, “I am so glad that I came here – it’s a really nice place to be… the camaraderie between the volunteers, the staff, and the community is amazing.” Volunteering is a rewarding experience for those sharing their time, but it also supports healthcare for local residents. Memorial’s volunteer program continues to have a positive impact on both the volunteers and community – just a few hours of volunteering a week can do wonders for the mind, body, and soul.
