Champaign Community Foundation Provides Grant for Learning Through Livestock

​The Champaign Community Foundation is excited to announce one of their 2025 grants of $1,500 to Learning Through Livestock. This project allows children to show a lamb, goat, or heifer at the 2025 Champaign County Fair while keeping the animal at Woodruff Farms. This project is a

501(c)3 that was started and is run by Todd Woodruff. They began with only 26 participants and now there are more than 55 participants.

This unique project allows all children, especially those who otherwise wouldn’t be able to, the opportunity to participate in 4H. All costs are covered up-front so that payments don’t need to be settled until after sales at the fair. Feed and housing are provided for the animals, while supervision, educational clinics, and transportation are provided for the participants. Benefits of this club include, but are not limited to, learning the importance of responsibility, the basics of economics and marketing, as well as gaining self-confidence, decision-making, communication, and teamwork skills, all while earning money and having fun.

The Champaign Community Foundation is an affiliate of the Springfield Foundation that supports efforts to improve the quality of life in Champaign County, Ohio. Managed by the trusted expertise of the local Champaign County Advisory Board of Directors and the Springfield Foundation staff, this endowment fund generates sustainable income to support Champaign County. Endowment funds play a vital role in sustaining organizations that shape our community's fabric, preserving Champaign County for future generations.

Contributions to the Champaign Community Foundation Endowment Fund are welcome from individuals, businesses, and organizations passionate about supporting our community. Donations can be made directly to the Springfield Foundation, designated for the Champaign Community Foundation.
