Champaign Community Foundation Provides Grant for EVERYbody Plays!

​The Champaign Community Foundation is excited to announce one of their 2025 grants of $1,000 to Phase 2 of EVERYbody Plays!, a collaboration between the Lawnview Board of Directors and the city of Urbana to build an inclusive playground at Melvin Miller Park. Inclusion playgrounds are designed to allow people of all ages

and abilities to play together. This improves brain development; helping kids meet development milestones and grow social skills. 

​A “typical” playground is not designed to allow access to those with disabilities, as they include a variety of barriers. EVERYbody Plays! plans to change this by bringing the community together through play. Imagining a place where every child, no matter their ability, are all playing and exploring together. A place where every person can access every piece of equipment. This playground offers ground-level and elevated activities. They want all kids in Champaign County to be able to play together, no matter their ability. In 2021, EVERYbody Plays! broke ground on Phase 1; it was completed by the end of that year and is very well utilized by Champaign County youth. Phase 2 was completed in late 2024, focusing on ages 2-5 and featuring the same great quality as Phase 1. Now in 2025, they still have work they want to accomplish and the Champaign Community Foundation is proud to support this endeavor.

The Champaign Community Foundation is an affiliate of the Springfield Foundation that supports efforts to improve the quality of life in Champaign County, Ohio. Managed by the trusted expertise of the local Champaign County Advisory Board of Directors and the Springfield Foundation staff, this endowment fund generates sustainable income to support Champaign County. Endowment funds play a vital role in sustaining organizations that shape our community's fabric, preserving Champaign County for future generations.

Contributions to the Champaign Community Foundation Endowment Fund are welcome from individuals, businesses, and organizations passionate about supporting our community. Donations can be made directly to the Springfield Foundation, designated for the Champaign Community Foundation.
