August Events at Mechanicsburg Public Library Offer Something for Everyone

The Mechanicsburg Public Library is excited to announce a full lineup of engaging programs this August for all ages! Whether you’re looking for family fun, hands-on crafts, learning opportunities, or just a place to connect with the community, there's something for everyone on the calendar.

Here’s a preview of some of this month’s highlights:

👧 Youth Events

• Strollers & Stories – Fridays, August 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29 | 11 AM – 12 PM
  Join Miss Caitlin for a walk in the park followed by storytime—perfect for little ones in strollers (weather permitting).
• Pokémon Go Walks – Fridays, August 1, 8 & 15 | 1 – 2 PM
  Walk around town with fellow trainers, take on raids, and hunt for shinies! (Cancelled if it rains.)
• STEAM Team – Monday, August 11 | 4 – 5 PM
  How strong is paper? Kids will explore science through a hands-on engineering challenge!
• World Snacking – Tuesday, August 12 | 3 – 4 PM
  Taste snacks from around the globe with our international snack crate.
• Lego Club – Thursday, August 14 | 4 – 5 PM
  Create, build, and play with provided Legos. Let your imagination soar!
• Slime Society – Thursday, August 21 | 4 – 5 PM
  This month’s creation: slime stress balls! Messy fun and creative expression rolled into one.
• Donuts & Debate – Tuesday, August 26 | 3 – 4 PM
  Dumbledore vs. Gandalf—who’s the ultimate wizard? Enjoy donuts and friendly discussion.

👨‍🏫 Adult Events

• Everything Must Go (Craft Drop-In) – Friday, August 1 (10 AM – 6 PM) & Saturday, August 2 (10 AM – 3 PM)
  Miss a summer craft? Come finish any adult summer reading project while supplies last.
• Letter “M” Book Folding – Saturdays in August (Aug. 2, 9, 16, 23, 30) | 10 AM – 3 PM
  Fold an old book into a fun school-spirit-themed “M” for display or gifting!
• States & Capitals Kahoot Trivia – Tuesday, August 5 | 6 – 7 PM
  Test your geography knowledge in a fun, interactive game night. (Kahoot app required.)
• Explore the World: Peru’s Sacred Architecture – Tuesday, August 19 | 3 – 4 PM
  Join a free online lecture to discover the sacred pyramids and temples of Peru, part of our "Explore the World from Your Home" series.
• Cookbook Club – Monday, August 25 | 6 – 7 PM
  This month’s feature is Plant, Cook, Eat! by Joe Archer. Bring a dish and share your cooking adventure!
