Urbana High School’s Ryland Davis delivered a standout performance at the OHSAA Division II District Tournament held Tuesday at PipeStone Golf Course, nearly clinching a qualifying spot for the State Championship.

Davis, who advanced to Districts as the fourth qualifying individual from the sectional tournament, carded a 76 (37–39). His round placed him in strong contention for one of the two individual qualifying spots but ultimately left him just outside the cut.

Deputy Christopher Culler of the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office will be awarded the Exemplary Response Award at the Ohio Attorney General’s 2025 Law Enforcement Training Symposium in Sandusky on Tuesday.

The honor recognizes law enforcement officers who save or attempt to save a life or perform exceptional actions in response to a call for assistance.

​September is Healthy Aging Month, and as the crisp days of fall settle in, it’s a good time to remind families that cooler temperatures bring unique health risks for older adults – ranging from respiratory illnesses to increased risk of falls.

“Fall is a beautiful season, but it can also be a dangerous time for seniors,” says Dr. Aijaz Ahmed with Mercy Health – Urbana Primary Care and Walk-in Care. “We often see a spike in hospital visits related to respiratory infections and injuries from slips and falls as leaves and rain make walkways more hazardous.”

The Champaign Community Foundation (CCF), an affiliate of the Springfield Foundation, will host a community reception on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at Mercy Health – Urbana, 904 Scioto Street, Urbana.
