this year, a butterfly release in honor of the tenth annual event. The Young Life Memorial has supported families who have experienced child loss. Ashley reminds us, "While nothing can remove the pain entirely, seeing others acknowledge their children and validate their pain helps ease the burden." Originally intended as a one-time event, the overwhelming support from the community transformed it into an annual tradition. Ashley recalled, "After the first event, I gave the memorial markers to the parents, and the first mother I gave one to told me to keep it for next year. I realized this was not just for me and my baby. It became obvious that taboo emotions after child loss need a space to come into the light for healing to happen." Ashley hopes participants feel that their children matter, no matter how long they had them. "I hope they sense love and understanding around them and know they are not alone. I hope the supporters who show up for families know they are game changers for giving a moment to honor children we will always miss. I hope it's an evening that builds a bridge for conversation, solidarity, and strength to live fully again."
Ashley states, "All forms of support infuse this event with love and light for anyone enduring the delicate and life-long journey of losing a child. We send a heartfelt 'thank you' to all who donate, volunteer, share, and simply show up. The presence of your validation is the best way to hold space and show you care."
