Position Overview
ODOT District 7 is hiring one permanent full-time Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1) for Champaign County. The selected candidate will be placed into the appropriate classification based on qualifications.

This role is essential to keeping Ohio’s roadways safe, well-maintained, and accessible year-round.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform highway maintenance activities: flagging, pothole patching, guardrail repair, litter pickup, mowing, etc.
• Operate heavy equipment and tools.
• Support snow and ice removal operations during winter months.
• Attend training and obtain CDL licensure if not already a holder.
• Serve the public by ensuring Ohio roadways remain safe and reliable.

Minimum QualificationsHighway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1):

• Basic math and English skills.
• Must obtain a Class B CDL with tanker endorsement (no airbrake restriction).
  
  

Highway Technician 1 (HT1):

• Basic math skills, including decimals, percentages, and fractions.
• At least 3 months of training or experience operating basic equipment.
• Must hold a valid Class B CDL with tanker endorsement (no airbrake restriction).
