The Urbana City Council is currently accepting resumes for the appointed position of Clerk of Council. This is a part-time salaried position working directly with Urbana City Council. Annual salary range is $12,000 to $16,000.

The hours are flexible, well be set by Council and Tuesday evenings at least twice a month, with a possible third evening.

The Clerk of Council’s responsibilities and preferred job skills include but are not limited to:

• Keeping an accurate and complete journal of the proceedings of Council meetings and authenticating each ordinance or resolution by signing in accordance with Urbana City Charter Section 2.14.
• Preparing meeting agendas, minutes of meetings, and official correspondence.
• Assisting the citizens of the community as well as city employees with questions and requests for public records, such as Records of Proceedings, Ordinances/Resolutions, monthly agendas, and other documents.
• Posting ordinances (recent legislation or laws) at the City Municipal Building and other locations and effecting publication in accordance with Urbana City Charter Section 2.17.
• Submitting notices for Council meetings and Public hearings to news media outlets.
• Scanning/inputting adopted legislation for updates to the City website.
• Other duties requested by Council.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), well versed in setting up virtual meetings, and have customer service and communication skills.
