City of Urbana Seeks Full-Time Water Supervisor

​The City of Urbana, Ohio, is accepting applications for a full-time Water Supervisor position, offering an annual starting salary of $69,473, commensurate with experience. The role, within the Public Works Division and under the direction of the Public Works Superintendent, involves overseeing the city’s water treatment facilities and distribution infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct technical, administrative, and supervisory work for water treatment and distribution.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal water treatment permits.
• Provide technical supervision and consultation to subordinates and city officials.
• Plan, schedule, train, and direct daily operations to maintain an uninterrupted supply of clean water.
• Prepare and administer the Water Division's budget and maintain records.
• Communicate regulatory and reporting requirements to state and federal agencies.
• Implement and enforce safe work practices.
• Investigate and implement operational improvements within the Water Division.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (additional education or certifications encouraged).
• Valid Ohio EPA Class II Water Supply certificate.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in a Class II plant or higher, including three years in a supervisory role.
• Extensive knowledge of water treatment plant operations and regulatory requirements.
• Strong communication skills and mechanical ability.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant database software.
• Valid Ohio Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
• Residency in Champaign County or an adjacent county.
