Schuler's Bakery in Urbana is hiring full-time Sales Clerks/ Cashiers to work from 5:30am-1:15pm Tuesday-Saturday! This position's role is to create positive lasting memories for families and friends by assisting customers in selecting and purchasing great bakery products at a fair price.

You can eat all you while on duty and receive a 20% when not on duty. Shirts will be provided!

Essential Functions:
  • Approach and engage customers in a respectful and friendly manner; to educate them about our products, answer questions, help them locate items, take orders, and offer suggestions.
  • Fulfill your scheduled work hours, be at work on time, and use our time system for clocking in and out for all shifts, meals, and breaks.
  • Ensure fresh products are always available through stocking, rotating, and discarding of substandard product as instructed.
  • Follow all food handling and food safety regulations.
  • Be able to answer customer questions about allergens and our products, such as dairy, gluten and nuts etc.
  • Count money/make change and process credit card & SNAP/EBT payments. While accepting complete responsibility for the accuracy of your register drawer.
  • Package product at the point-of-sale, price, label and display products as directed and ensure cleanliness of pre-packaged products.
  • Receive training at our Limestone location where you will be made familiar with how our products are made, the key allergen ingredients of items and an overview of our policies and procedures.
  • Utilize provided sales aids when preparing samples and special orders to ensure success and consistency every time. Be able to write on cakes and learn basic decorating skills.
  • Work with other retail sale clerks to efficiently complete tasks throughout the store and communicate concerns or issues with the manager.
  • Use waste reduction techniques as directed.
  • Take phone orders and write up cake orders as directed.
  • Perform daily cleaning duties according to the cleaning schedule. Store must be clean, cases stocked and organized at all times.
  • Receive, document customer complaints and notify management
  • Perform other related work as required and instructed

Qualifications:
  • US work authorization (Required)
  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)
  • Retail: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Must meet all background check requirements
  • Courteous and friendly, excellent customer service skills
  • Well groomed and presentable (tattoos etc.)
  • Proper dress code will apply, shirts and aprons provided
  • 18 years or older
  • Punctual
  • Dependable transportation
  • Drug/alcohol free during hours employed
  • Effective listening and communications abilities, able to follow directions

Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Other knowledge, skills or abilities:
  • Farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills.

Working Conditions:
  • Working environment is favorable, generally working inside with moderate noise. Indoor floors and outdoor lots generally are hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt, etc.) Lighting and temperature are adequate.
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
  • Work shifts vary from one store to another, but generally are no less than 4 hours and may exceed 8 hours.
  • Promote a safe and productive work environment for Team Members and customers and adhere to Company safety training and guidelines.

Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • Ability to move and transfer merchandise, weighing up to 50 pounds, throughout the store.
  • Ability to push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with the assistance of proper material handling equipment (e.g. pallet jack)
  • Ability to occasionally lift or reach merchandise overhead.
  • Ability to frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders.
  • Ability to move throughout the store for an entire shift.
  • Ability to safely access all areas of the store including selling floor, side lot, stock area, and register area.
  • Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run a store (e.g. dolly, handtruck, forklift, baler, computer, cash register)
  • Ability to constantly operate store equipment such as computer, cash register, and other store equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, and count accurately to complete all documentation. * Ability to utilize strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with team members and customers.
  • Ability to process information / merchandise through the point-of-sale system.
  • Ability to successfully complete training and certification to dispense propane, and to dispense propane
  • Ability to successfully complete all required training.

A Store Manager is responsible for the management of all employees in the effective planning and implementation of all store processes, including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing and support.

Responsibilities:
  • Recruit, select and retain qualified employees according to federal and state labor laws and company policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
  • Provide proper training for employees; conduct performance evaluations; identify gaps for appropriate solutions and/or counseling, up to and including termination.
  • Make recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.

  • Facilitate the efficient staging, stocking and storage of merchandise by following defined company work processes.
  • Ensure that all merchandise is presented according to established practices; utilize merchandise fixtures properly including presentation, product pricing and signage.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
  • Ensure the financial integrity of the store through strict cashier accountability, key control, and adherence to stated company security practices and cash control procedures.
  • Provide superior customer service leadership.
  • Maintain a clean, well-organized store; facilitate a safe and secure working and shopping environment.
  • Ensure that store is adequately equipped with tools necessary to perform required tasks.
  • Follow company policies and procedures as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures manual, Employee Handbook, and company communications; ensure employee compliance.
  • Complete all paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.

Knowledge:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
  • Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
  • Ability to perform IBM cash register functions to generate reports.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance and internal processes.

Qualifications:
